Moscow Stock Exchange (MOEX) is not anymore considered as recognised stock exchange after UK revoked it. The revocation order came into force on May 5, 2022. The recognition of stock exchange gives specific tax relief. For existing customers nothing will change but for new customers benefits will not be available.
This decision is provoked by recent military invasion of Ukraine by Russian Federation. The Bank of Russia had placed restrictions on foreign investors (prevent brokers from selling assets at the instruction of non-Russian investors) in February 28.
The removal of the recognised status of the Moscow Stock Exchange send a clear message to investors (don’t invest if you don’t want to lose money).
